I’ve been a little baby-heavy lately in my posts lately, haven’t I? Or, more specifically, baby picture heavy. However, I have a lot of health related topics in my mind that I’m eager to discuss, but since we’re 5 days past my little lady’s six month birthday, I can’t possibly wait another day to share what she’s been up to.
Hailey’s schedule seems to be bouncing around a bit (especially with our traveling and car trips), but usually she’s up around 6:30 for “breakfast”. I feed her and she goes right back down before getting up for the day between 7:30-8:00. She takes one morning (usually 45 minutes) and one afternoon (usually 1.5 hours) nap. Bed time starts around 7:00 and after nursing and a bath, she’s down by 7:30.
She’s still rocking the sleep suit and it works great. We aren’t rocking (in the literal sense) her to sleep at bedtime anymore. I nurse her, then it’s bath time, then after hugs and kisses we put her in the sleep suit, turn on the white noise, put the pacifier in her mouth and quietly leave the room. I may or may not whisper I love you! one more time before walking out.
We went to the pediatrician yesterday and got 3 shots- ick. She doesn’t like getting them, but calms down right after and that’s the end of it. Of course my favorite part of the doctor is the stats!
Height 26 7/8” (75-90%)
Weight 16 lbs 1.5 oz (50%)
Head 17” (50-75%)
We are starting solids this week (finally!). I can’t wait to watch her reactions with food. I am going to continue to breastfeed her (usually 5 times a day) and am going to try the Baby Led Weaning route. I’ll do a full report on how it all goes. I’m just waiting for a day when David is home because I want him to be there for her first foods.
No teeth, yet, though the pediatrician says the bottom ones should be making an appearance soon. (I believe she said that last time, too, so we’ll see). After those couple days of teething (I think), all symptoms seem to have subsided.
The doc also mentioned that she may be one to skip crawling and go to walking because she loves standing (with assistance) so much and is great at bearing all her weight on her legs. Also, she’s not such a big fan of tummy time.
She loves her exersaucer and can usually be found chewing on the poor bird’s head. Everything is in her mouth these days. And she LOVES Koda. She shrieks and giggles when she comes near and has snagged Koda’s tongue in a death grip more than once. Poor pup.
Speaking of everything being in her mouth… her toes are still her favorite.
She’s a big fan of the stroller and will stay happy for hours if she has things to look at. (Side note, Dear GAP, your jacket is adorable, but I’d prefer my child not resemble anyone from the KKK, k? Thanks.)
She can sit up unassisted, though if she’s reaching excitedly for a toy, she gets pretty wobbly. (Side note: I’m going to try not to get addicted to Instagram!)
Overall, she’s a healthy, happy, funny little girl who I adore spending my days with. Her giggles (which usually sound like ‘ahhhhhhgggg’ sounds) melt my heart and I love tickling her ribs and getting a real belly laugh. I know I say it every time, but I love being Hailey’s mom. We are so blessed.

so cute! She’s getting so big 🙂

Great post and congratulations on 6 months! Your daughter is gorgeous- mine will be 6 months at the end of the month and it is fun to see the similarities between them. I think we have the same exersaucer! 🙂
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says
Is it weird how excited that I (emphasis, in italics, if I could) am about her trying solid foods? 🙂
blackhuff says
I love that family photo of you all. So priceless.
Isn’t it great that you don’t need to rock her to sleep any more?
Her stats look great – proud mommy I’m sure.
She have certainly grow so much – Happy 6 month birthday, little Hailey 🙂
Tanya @ Vegan Faith says
Hailey is just the cutest! Those photos of you and your family are so precious!

She is so gorgeous! I love her smile. 🙂 So sweet.
Lee says
Love the family picture at the end.
Does she get hot in the sleepsuit? I looks very warm!
Brittany says
She did get a little sweaty last night. With temps not dropping low at night anymore, I’m not sure how long we’ll be able to use it. Wish me luck for when we have to quit it cold turkey!
Lindsay @ The Lean Green Bean says
she’s getting so big! i love all the pics of you and her 🙂
Tanya says
So cute. I love reading your posts and seeing what’s in store for my little one in the future. Can’t wait to hear about the solid food adventure!
Gina @ Running to the Kitchen says
That’s such a great picture at the end 🙂
btw-I said the same thing about instagram at first…it took about 1 week for full fledged addiction to set in.

She is absolutely a great baby! You are blessed for sure. What a cutie. Our daughter is almost 5 months old and her brother is 2 years and almost 5 months old.
We are not rocking to sleep but she still gets up 1-2 times in the night. Im working on that 🙂
Amanda @ Sistas of Strength says
So cute! I have a white sweater from gap for CJ and the hood is the same way! My husband made the exact same comment. So weird.
Parita @ myinnershakti says
Keep the baby pics coming! They melt my heart! 🙂
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says
hahaha. I totally thought that about that little white jacket. Cute, but she looks like she’s from the KKK. oh my gosh…how terrible. That’s adorable she loves Koda.
christina says
She is just the cutest. You guys are the cutest!! And I love your hair that length.
Brittany says
Really?? Thanks! I’m trying to debate whether to cut it or let it grow longer… I’m so indecisive with my hair! I really want a brazillian blow out. Stupid formaldehyde 😉

Love the baby updates! It makes me even more excited for my little one to come!! (we’re finding out the sex next Friday- yay!). Hailey is super adorable, and I bet she is such a joy in “real life” too. 🙂
Been researching exersaucers- do you like yours? And I noticed your high chair… How do you like it? I have been interested in chair-top ones to save space, but worried that they would slip or the baby could tip over. What do you think?
Brittany says
Are you feeling boy or girl?? You have to let me know!
I do like our exersaucer- it keeps Hailey very entertained. As for high chairs, we haven’t used ours for eating yet, but I went the space saver route, too, so I didn’t have to have a big ol highchair hanging out in the kitchen. It secures in multiple ways to the chair, so I feel like it’s very safe. My biggest concern is that it’s Koda’s height and I don’t know who will end up eating more good- Koda or Hailey 😉

I LOVED the post. It made me feel like I was there with her (well almost). I can’t wait to see all of you in a couple of weeks!!
Jen says
Did your pediatrician express any concern for your baby skipping crawling? I was just wondering because my husband is a chiropractor and he’s recently studied a lot about baby development. He learned that babies really need to go through all the “steps” in order to develop properly. We don’t have anything that “props” our baby up because it’s like a crutch and she won’t grow the muscles she needs for walking and standing. Just something to think about…
Brittany says
The pediatrician didn’t express any concern over it, but I have heard things about the importance of crawling. I certainly am not going to try and get Hailey to ‘skip’ crawling and will still give her as much tummy time as she can take, but I’m also open to just letting her develops how she does. Thanks for the comment!
Lisa says
So cute!I love the sleep suit, it’s the funniest thing 🙂
Tiff says
Cuteness overload! haha I didn’t realize babies could go straight to walking. Crib to 5k, right? 😉
Maria says
I still cannot get over the photo of her little polo and jeans. It kills me. What a little lady!
Jen says
SO, so cute! How are we already discussing walking? Where is the time going? They’re going to be off to college soon. Sniff sniff.
Antonia @ healthinspirations says
She’s absolutely adorable…sooo cute 🙂
Jenn says
How did you transition into falling asleep without rocking? My 3 month old won’t go down unless she’s rocked to sleep. I know I’m not supposed to, but I’m not sure how to put her down if i don’t!
Brittany says
We still rocked H to sleep at 3 months. In fact, we just stopped a couple weeks ago. We did our usual routine, but she’d start waking up when we put her down, so we’d rock her again, then she’d wake up when we put her down, so we knew we had to change it. Starting a night or two after it first happened, we’d rock her, put her down, then she’d wake up and we’d let her fuss until she put herself back to sleep (the first night it took 30 minutes). But since then, she’s gone to sleep on her own. It’s kind of nice 🙂
But like I said, it took us to 6 months (for bedtime, at least, I never rocked her for naps, just put her down awake and she’d go to sleep), so don’t feel like you need to change anything right now (unless you want to, of course!)
Katie @ Pop Culture Cuisine says
I am so excited to get Kherie’s 6 month stats, we go next week for her checkup, but I can not believe how much bigger she is, she is truly starting to feel like a real little person (if that makes any sense). It’s as if she learns something or is interested in something new every day!
She discovered that she could roll onto her belly in her swaddle last week (which freaked me out), so we sort of just stopped cold turkey and are using a sleep sack. So far she is doing pretty well, waking up a couple of times a night, but we aren’t sure yet if it is because of hunger, habit, or not being used to being unswaddled yet. The sleep sack is fleece and it has been unseasonably warm here, so it could be that too, but I am hoping she goes back to only waking once, momma is tired!
We are also going to try the baby led weaning route, I find it makes the most sense to me and a friend of mine said she did both that and few baby feeding here and there, so I figure we will try a few things and see what she likes best, I am in no rush to wean her though, as much as I thought I wouldn’t like breast feeding, I like having her depend on me and the closeness in the morning and before bed, and well let’s face it, it’s free 🙂
Lauren says
Love these updates! She is so cute and I love that family picture at the end…you all look great! That sleep suit cracks me up everytime.
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
<3 her!!!! Can you believe how fast time goes? I can't believe she's 6 months!
Katie says
My daughters two months younger than yours so I love anticipating what’s next! We swaddled our daughter a ton and thankfully she has stopped cold turkey due to rolling over and hot temps here! I’m sure she’ll transition great!
JenRD says
Maybe you could try introducing a lovey as a comfort object before you have to stop the manic sleeper? We just started doing that with Maya. I know it doesn’t give her the same coziness as the sleeper, but I’m hoping she will start to cuddle it and use it to self-soothe. Right now it just winds up strewn across her forehead, lol. I have heard that babies tend to do that.

Hey Brittany! I can’t believe it’s been 6 months! You really do make motherhood seem so joyous and carefree! It’s awesome to watch. I just had a quick mommy question for you. When you first started taking Hailey out, did you feed her in the car? What was your setup if you don’t mind me asking? I’m planning to start taking my daughter out and about more and I’m nervous about nursing on the go. Any tips would be great! FoodIRL@gmail.com

So adorable. . . love all the pictures of her – especially the ones showing how flexible she is – love that babies can put their feet in their mouths! And that last family picture is adorable. I love seeing my little guy (now 10months) interact with the dog – it is so cute and melts my heart!
