Friday kicked the weekend off right. David and I enlisted the services of a sitter and drove in to Charlotte. I can’t tell you how wild that feels! (For those that ask, Hailey so far does really well with the sitter. They play in the bonus room until 6:45 when she gets a bottle, then bed. I don’t have the sitter feed Hailey solids or give her a bath.)
For our date night dinner, we hit up Cowfish. I’ve bragged about this place before and no doubt if you’ve ever ventured even close to Charlotte you’ve heard about how awesome this place is. It’s a sushi and burger bar, offering a unique menu full of ah-mazing food.
Example: Blackened Ahi Tuna Nachos
We devoured the fresh tuna, served on wonton chips with guacamole, crab rangoon dip, tomatoes and microgreens while deciding what to drink.
I chose a summery kiwi and strawberry fizzy concoction that hit the spot. David couldn’t decide on a beer, so they let him sample a couple.
For our main events, we both went with burgushi! Mainly because I just like to say the word
David ordered the Taste Explosion Roll (above). Blake, our personable server (the servers here are top-notch) didn’t lead me astray when he recommended Doug’s Filet Roll (below). Check out the description of these unique rolls here.
After a relaxed and satisfying dinner, and a pleasant chat with Alan, one of the owners, David and I headed off to Old Mecklenburg Brewery for a friend’s surprise party. I sipped on a Copper beer and enjoyed catching up with our friends.
Clearly, the iPhone failed to take a decent picture. Zombie eyes!
Saturday, after a trip to the Davidson Farmers Market (peaches!!)
I attended a baby shower for Sara and got to see her sweet nursery before heading over to help Caden celebrate his first birthday!
(Hailey hanging out with the birthday boy.)
Susan did a phenomenal job and there were adorable details all over the Mickey Mouse themed party.
Sunday we got organized for the week, then enjoyed a leisurely dinner after Hailey went to bed.
We grilled up some delicious blackened fish tacos.
Grill-roasted broccoli on the side (my new summertime favorite).
The weather was slightly cool yesterday and made for a perfect Sunday evening to dine al fresco.
I highly recommend broccoli on the grill. Just toss in some olive oil with salt, pepper and garlic powder. So fresh tasting!
What’s your favorite thing to grill?

We have yet to find a real sitter for M, still struggling with that. But we need to do it soon!

It took me forever! I had a friend nearby who interviewed a ton, and then let me know all the info. So helpful!

As you can imagine, I’ve been to Old Meck quite a few times, but I still haven’t made it to Cowfish. It’s on my to-eat list!

Corn on the grill is so amazing! I use Bobby Flay’s method and it’s the best I’ve ever had. Yum.

How do you make the broccoli? It looks so good!
Brittany says
Toss with some olive oil then sprinkle on salt, pepper and garlic powder. Then I put it on some tinfoil on the grill until crispy and freaking delicious!

There is just too much cuteness happening in this post…from your wavy hair to your daughter to the birthday party. [And I’m not ashamed to say that I now want a Disney themed birthday party in August…]
My favorite thing to grill? PINEAPPLE!!! I changed the lives of many family members last summer with that. 😉
