Welcome to another Munchkin Meals! I can’t believe it’s been 6 months since we started solids. Hailey (now 12 months) is still an adventurous eater, but prefers more flavor in her food now. I also am now more comfortable giving her bigger pieces of food, like apple slices, for her to gnaw on. Other things, like grape tomatoes, I still slice up.
This week, there is no theme, just a typical day of Hailey’s eats. Starting with breakfast.
Organic Toasted Oats, half an organic banana and a Greek yogurt.
Today she ate the Stonyfield organic kids Greek yogurt, but she’s also been sharing my Fage 2% cherry lately. I can’t get enough.
Lunch, for both of us, was leftovers.
Lentil chili. She ate it all and was ready for a snack about 2 hours later.
Applesauce! Earth’s Best organic doesn’t have added sugar, which I like. It’s amazing how many applesauce brands add sugar!
Dinner may look fancy, but it was actually pretty simple.
I already had black beans and brown rice in the fridge from my weekly food prep. I chopped some grape tomatoes and sautéed it all in olive oil with cumin, salt and pepper (flav-ah!). I roasted the asparagus for our dinner and added a few to her plate.
She immediately grabbed and downed the asparagus. As I rejoiced in her love of a new food, she proceeded to throw the next two on the floor. I chopped up the fourth and she downed it unknowingly amid her rice and beans. I love that she still picks out all the tomatoes first. She loves her “red”.
She ate about 75% of dinner and finished up her milk for the day, too.
Your turn!

any reason why you buy organic bananas? since they have such a thick peel I never thought to buy organic.
Interesting to see what she eats compared to Raffi. He eats a lot more at breakfast (an egg, a waffle, some Cheerios, a sliced kiwi and a whole banana is a standard breakfast for him) but a lot less at dinner (tonight he ate about 10 bites of minestrone soup and called it a night). And he still won’t touch tomatoes or tomato sauce.

I agree with Rhodeygirl. Mine eats a whole pear and banana and 1/2 to 3/4 cup of oatmeal. She eats so much! Tonight she refused to eat. Ate two bites of pureed squash. Weaning is hard!

Hailey is so hit or miss with breakfast. She still nurses before so maybe that makes her not as hungry?
And Sabrina, I buy organic because conventional bananas are a lot of times genetically modified. I don’t do organic everything, but when I can, I opt organic. Since bananas are so cheap both ways, I go organic.
Jenny says
Bananas, even as of 2016, are not genetically modified. yet.

She’s such a good eater- she reminds me so much of my daughter at that age! She was happy to gobble everything up. I love that you were able to chop up the asparagus and she never knew it was there. 🙂 I wish I could still do that!!

Can you share how things are going with the Milk and when you are giving it to her. I also saw some cool transition milk you posted, where did you get that?
Starting to try and introduce milk to M.

My little Karyna won’t eat anything but Fruit Loops and ice cream in the morning.
Then hot cocoa mix straight out the packet for lunch.
At dinner Karyna eats bagel bites.
I can’t make her change her diet! Please help?
