Nothing new. Egg for breakfast.
NEW! Udi’s gluten-free millet chia bread.
I wasn’t crazy about the long list of ingredients, but I didn’t see any of the known bad guys (Partially hydrogenated oils, corn syrup, etc). I LOVED how this tasted soft, like real bread. Impressed.
Nothing new. Morning gym ritual.
NEW! David came and did it with me. We had to work to get through this superset workout from Julie. Then David taught me to run longer by monitoring my heart rate. I might have just had a break through!
Nothing new. Come home starving and snack.
And make lunch.
NEW! Brianna Real French Vinaigrette dressing is really good! I have a hard time breaking away from my Newman’s Balsamic, but wanted to switch things up. Loved the flavor, the list of real ingredients and the fact that it didn’t have any sugar.
NEW! I decided to grab this Sunny Creek Farm Crunchy Mix from the produce section at Harris Teeter. They taste like sprouts, so I’m not smitten with the flavor, but loved the protein and crunch they added to my salad.
Nothing new. A LOVE Grown hot oats snack with chia. Some call it breakfast. I called it a snack.
NEW! We found a fun way to fill the afternoon. We hit up the spray grounds at Birkdale.
Nothing new. None of the kids got in the fountain. Instead they ran around and climbed on us.
Nothing new. Beer (Corona Light) with David as we sat in the driveway letting Hailey soak up the last of the sunlight before bed. It’s summertime, baby!
Nothing New. Burrito bowls for dinner!
Nothing new. As always, thanks to Jenn for hosting the WIAW link up.
NEW! Munchkin Meals link up TOMORROW! Post about your kids meals and then come over and link up, share and get some new ideas yourself. I’m focusing on a before and after to show you how much of Hailey’s food is making it down the hatch.
NEW! We need a new series. After going through a Game of Thrones withdrawal (NO SPOILERS!!! We are only on Season 2), we tried the Sopranos and The Wire. Can’t get into either.
Any TV series recommendations?
char eats greens says
The nothing new for burrito bowls is totally acceptable though ;). I’m seriously about a month or so away from being able to link up for munchkin meals…even if she IS only going to be eating one meal a day hahah
Pavana says
The IT Crowd on Netflix. Hilarious Brit Comedy
Erica says
Psych is the only show that I make my mom record for me (I haven’t had cable in years.) It’s on the 8th season or something crazy but you can watch the first few on Netflix. It’s spectacular!
Gcroft says
Not sure if you get any Aussie shows, but there’s a good one called Winners and Losers.
Verna says
We’re watching Fringe right now. Kind of like x-files. Sons of Anarchy is really good, Blue Bloods, and Dexter are our other favorites.
Brittany Dixon says
I’ve heard a lot about Blue Bloods! My parents love it. Maybe that will be our next try!
I tried Dexter but it freaked me out. Guess I scare easily 😉
Danica @ It's Progression says
Modern Family and Parenthood are my favorites right now…If you haven’t seen Dexter before I’d HIGHLY recommend that one too.
Ali says
I have heard lots like dexter! Never tried though….
Brittany Dixon says
I watched an episode or two of Dexter and really liked it but it scared me! Well, it at least gave me the heebie jeebies, which didn’t bode well before bed. Guess I’m the only pansy out there, since it seems people love it!
Ali says
If yiu dont like sopranos i dont know if we can be friends anymore….JK….(but we did watch every episode ever made and I cried when it was over)
Big Love is over now but ran for many seasons (HBO) and is about polygamy and was one of our faves for years.
Did you guys ever watch 24? I have them if you want to borrow.
Breaking Bad? (We just started). About a science teacher turned meth maker.
True Blood – vampires, werewolves and fairies – early seasons are best in my opinion. New season starts this summer.
Just got Walking Dead but haven’t tried yet. It’s a zombie thing, but I have heard very good.
Newsroom ran one season on HBO and I loved it. Will be back this summer.
Verna says
We like Breaking Bad and True Blood too! 😉
blackhuff says
I love that photo of you and your husband. Priceless.
Christina says
Have you seen House of Cards? It’s a Netflix original series, and it was great! All about corruption, greed, and power in Washington DC. We also watched Jericho, which is a fictional show about a Kansas town and how it survivies and rebuilds after a nuclear blast in several major US cities shuts off their access to the rest of the country. At some points its a little unbelievable, but we really enjoyed it. Currently watching Scandal w/Kerry Washington, so far so good!
Brittany Dixon says
I have seen house of cards! Liked it… need to check back in with it. We fell off after a few episodes.
Lindsey says
I love Dexter, its a good series to get into 🙂
kristi says
Have you tried Prison Break? Pretty contrived but lots of action to keep you watching.
We were also hooked on season 1 of Damages (then had a baby and haven’t watched much tv since, heh)
Brittany Dixon says
Haven’t seen Prison Break but I’ve heard great things! Adding it to my try list- thanks!
Karen says
Your breakfast looked so good!! I have got to try that dip, where did you get it from? I would highly recommend So You Think You Can Dance, I use to be a dancer so I am a big time fan. 🙂
Brittany Dixon says
The Greek yogurt feta dill dip? YES, you must try it! I got it from Target, either near the deli meat counter or buy the prepacked produce (salad bags). I can’t remember now!
Alex says
Homeland and dexter. I was really sceptical of dexter but be warned…its addicting!
Beth Sheridan says
Oh I would love to link up for Munchkin meals, but I don’t know if I have enough pictures/stories about what he’s eating right now to do it. I will certainly try though…
Tell me the secret about your heart rate to run longer!!
Brittany Dixon says
You don’t need a lot of pics or stories! You can even just share one meal. People (and me!) just love browsing to get new meal ideas. Hope you decide to join in! 🙂
Also, I’m looking into this heart rate and running stuff. Once I learn more, I’ll share!
Cynthia says
The earlier comment about the Netflix show, House of Cards, was spot on. My husband and I just discovered that one. It’s so good! Also Walking Dead is very addicting. Love it!
Brittany Dixon says
I did like House of Cards! Walking Dead I just couldn’t get into. I’m not a zombie person. Or a vampire person. I never even read or watched Twilight. I know, I’m the weird one 🙂
Erin @ The Grass Skirt says
That bread sounds great! I love the Udi’s pizza crusts, but I haven’t been too impressed with their regular sliced bread, so I might give this a try.
The Grass Skirt
Maria says
I know I said at first I didn’t like Dexter at first, but I am totally hooked. We watched it almost every night (and obsessively check the mail when waiting for the next DVD). If you never watched LOST, that’s my favorite series, ever. So good.
We subbed out our normal whole wheat bread for sprouted flax bread. The ingredient list is incredibly short and we actually like this bread more than our basic whole wheat. Win-win.
Brittney says
I’m glad I’m not the only one who couldn’t get into The Wire! I tried like three episodes and gave up!
Breaking Bad is my favorite. Give it a couple episodes and I think you’ll be hooked. It also gets better and better.
We also got into Walking Dead but it took longer for us to get hooked on that than BB.
Another show we like is Burn Notice (it’s on Netflix). It’s a little bit more comedic and light than some of the other series so it’s easier to break up watching episodes. With the others you have to watch the episodes in order and you get so sucked in it’s hard to tear yourself away, which is great, but sometimes it’s nice to watch something a little bit lighter.
Paulina says
Have you seen Friday Night Lights yet? It’s incredible and available on Netflix. I’m watching The West Wing now, and its pretty good if you like political drama. I second the recommendation for the IT Crowd, that show is hilarious.
Brittany Dixon says
I do like political drama! I am a closet political junkie. I will have to check it out- thanks!
I did like Friday Night Lights, but it wasn’t a good fit for David.
Erin says
We love Dexter and Homeland! They are both totally addicting. Y’all should check them out!
Brittany Dixon says
I was OBSESSED with Homeland. OBSESSED. Dexter scared me! Apparently I am the only one. Maybe I should toughen up and try it again.
Tiff @ Love, Sweat, and Beers says
I loved GOT and Sopranos, but I couldn’t get into The Wire either. I got into The Mindy Project not too long ago. Love that show!
I nearly quit my workout early this morning due to hunger. That’s new for me! haha
Brittany Dixon says
Ah, yes, love Mindy! We are set on comedies- Mindy, Arrested Development, New Girl… 🙂
Jen says
You must watch Homeland!! We watched Seasons 1 and 2 so quickly on dvd, not sure how we’re going to make it through a real season where we have to wait a week between episodes.
Brittany Dixon says
I’m OBSESSED with Homeland! I’ve been dying for season 2 to come out on DVD- is it out yet?! Where did you get it?
Christina says
I second the newsroom and house of cards. Both great shows!
Heather @ Housewife Glamour says
That crunchy mix looks intriguing! I LOVE burrito bowls, and probably make them once a week. Great WIAW post!
Linda says
Stick it out with the Soprano’s — it is very good!! I love Dexter also, and I hear Arrested Development is great.
Sarah says
Oh how I miss my summertime beers! Just seltzer water and lime for me for a few more weeks…
She Rocks Fitness says
I highly recommend Nashville and Revenge! I’ve been all about quesadillas lately, but burrito bowls sound like a nice change. Can never get enough Mexican in the summer months!
Erica says
I just started watching Boardwalk Empire and love it, and I think you guys would like it, too. That being said, it’s similar to the Sopranos in that it’s an HBO show (so, nudity and violence) but I like it better than the Sopranos so far and the acting, the sets, the clothes are just phenomenal.
Another good one is White Collar – it’s on USA and they have it on Netflix Instant and I’ve seen it OnDemand (Time Warner Cable in NC). We loooove that show!
Erica says
Oh I see above that you like political drama – have you watched The West Wing?
It is my favorite show ever. EVER. My husband and I got the DVD set for Christmas one year and there are 6 seasons (maybe 7?) and it took us forever to watch them all but it was so much fun. We still go back and watch some of our favorite episodes every now and again.
Sarah N says
Call the Midwife – 1950’s england, midwifery, and better reviews than Downton Abbey. I’m additcted to both. West Wing, Big Love, Boardwalk Empire are all fantastic. Mostly I watch Deadliest Catch or Modern Family with my husband.
Shel@PeachyPalate says
Well done on the running! Keep it up 🙂 The oats look yum…I’d totally call em a snack too!
Holly Marie says
LOVE splash pads this time of year! We just finished watching Breakout Kings on Netflix- easy to watch- sometimes a little too creepy in the first five minutes- and now we are searching for our next series- love the list on here!
Giselle@myhealthyhappyhome says
That’s fun that David got to go with you to the gym! My hubby came to a boot camp class with me last weekend and it was so nice to workout together again. He goes to Crossfit during the week so we never go together anymore 🙁 Did you watch Downton Abbey? My hubby and I finished off the first two seasons and are dying to watch the third!
Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl says
I definitely need to get my hands on some of that salad dressing. That sounds fantastic and I love that brand! Thanks for the heads up :).
Jan @ Sprouts n Squats says
I’ve just started watching House of Lies and I absolutely love it. I recommend it if you haven’t seen it. I’m also really into The Bachelorette at the moment 🙂
That bread looks great!
Joy V. says
Mad Men – Weeds – Six Feet Under – Dexter – Deadwood (it’s only 3 seasons, so it could be good to watch while you wait for other favorites to come back on) – not sure if you’ve already watched any of these – but these were some of the shows that my husband and I enjoyed watching together 🙂 (oh, and The Walking Dead)
Matt @ The Athlete's Plate says
The Udi’s products have some funky ingredients! I never buy them. I stick to Food For Life and Canyon Bakehouse for gluten free bread!
