What Fruit are you? Baby girl is a cauliflower this week! Are these comparisons weird to anyone else? She’s sleeping in regular intervals now, opening and closing her eyes and possibly even sucking on her fingers. More brain tissue is developing now, so bring on those omega 3s!
We had our appointment this week and baby girl’s heartbeat was steady in the 140s despite her bouncing around. My blood pressure is 102/60. I also was sent home with orange glucola… next week brings the gestational diabetes test. Fingers crossed!
Due date: May 9, 2014
How far along: 27 weeks – THIRD TRIMESTER! Whoop!
Gender: Baby girl!
Total weight gain/loss: Up 19 pounds and growing.
Exercise: Honestly, I fell off the wagon a bit.In the last two weeks I have done…
– Dumbbell strength circuit & 10 minutes on the stair stepper (29 floors)
– 1.5 mile wog and an upper body circuit
– 3 easy miles on the bike
– 10 minute elliptical, 5 minutes stair stepper and a circuit workout
Yup, that average to about 2 workouts a week.
I fought a cold for a few days and took it easy, but am ready to get back on it this week. I know it’s not going to get any easier to workout and want to keep feeling strong!
Stretch marks: Nada.
Swelling: Nada.
Belly button: Ehhhh… ok, starting to poke out.
Sleep: Sleep is my friend! I went to bed at 8:30 last night. No, not to read, but head-hit-the-pillow-and-I-was-out. My eyes didn’t open again until 6:15 this morning. Glorious.
Food cravings: The meat cravings have finally subsided! Phew. I actually started on a new vitamin combo that has helped, plus it has omega-3s and with baby’s brain tissue developing right now, I’m glad for it! I know, I should have been better about taking such a vitamin all along, but I’m a work in progress.
I’m not craving anything in particular, though French fries never sound bad and I’m close to having to go out and make this happen. Overall though, my appetite seems to have slowed down a bit in the last week.
I am starting to test some freezer meals. Exciting and crazy that we’re getting to that point!
Symptoms: My back pain and overall tiredness has actually improved, but I’m having a few episodes now of queasiness. I’ve heard some first trimester symptoms can return in the third trimester, but I don’t remember that really happening with Hailey.
Also, my hips ache a bit more often.
For the most part, it isn’t bad. Just a reminder that we’re moving in the right direction.
Movement: Yes! I love being able to feel and see her so easily from the outside now. We’ve started the game where she will kick and I’ll push back. I can also tell when she rolls over and her back is on the outside of my belly. It feels so heavy! It’s fun getting to “know her” through touch.
What I miss: Not much really. Well, wine. I’m hoping to go pick out a really nice bottle to have a sip of in celebration of her arrival in May. Any wine (red!) suggestions are welcomed.
What I’m loving: Feeling like I can see the finish line. Sure, it’s wayyy in the distance, but we’re starting to make things happen. Hailey moved into her big girl room and bed last night (more on that later) and now it’s time to shine up the nursery to be ready for baby girl!
What I’m looking forward to: Making to-do lists and really starting to check them off. I need to take advantage of whatever nesting energy remains. Also, my mom is coming next week to visit and that makes me happy!
Hailey’s take: She’ll kiss my belly then give me the “shhh” sign. “baby is sleeping in mama’s belly” she will tell me. Maybe she’s starting to understand? Maybe?
Words of wisdom: Go to sleep at 8:30 whenever you want! I am taking advantage of it now while I can. Ahh, it was so nice!
For fun: 27 Weeks with Hailey
I’m an open book, so if you have any questions about the pregnancy or anything, ask away!
Have a wonderful weekend
Tina Muir says
Yay! Love reading your progress, and how it is broken down….I feel like I am having a lesson in pregnancy….it will be great for the future! I love all the areas that are affected….interesting!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend, I would say you are being plenty productive enough, I can see why you are sleeping like….your cauliflower 🙂
Karen says
Can’t believe how fast it’s going. I am looking forward to hearing all about Hailey’s transition into her big girl bed. We want to make the transition once we move in March.
Brittany Dixon says
Night one was perfect! Of course, she doesn’t realize she can get out of her bed yet, so we’ll see how things continue 😉
Trying our first nap today- fingers crossed!
Danica @ It's Progression says
I agree with Karen’s comment above – my first thought was, “you’re 27 weeks already?! time is flying!”
You’re looking beautiful as always, girl!
Shari says
Oh my gosh, how cute is Hailey’s take on it? So sweet! 🙂
Whitney says
Red wine suggestions… DuckHorn, Alpha Omega, and Caymus. My 3 faves!!
thanks for sharing!! 🙂
Brittany Dixon says
Oh thank you thank you! I want to go buy them ALL! 🙂
John J. says
Glad you are feeling so good – and looking great! Congrats on Hailey’s smooth transition to her big girl bed! P.S. Alamos Malbec is one of your Mother’s favorites.
Brittany Dixon says
I’ll have to pick some Alamos up to have at the ready… sad I won’t be able to enjoy a glass at the beach with y’all, but it won’t be too long now! 🙂
Becky@TheSavedRunner says
You are so beautiful! Even though my husbands and I want to wait a few years before having kids, I still loving reading about women’s pregnant journeys so that I can kind of learn what I might experience. 🙂
Laura @ Mommy Run Fast says
I definitely plan to have some nights where I go to bed at 8:30! Right now, I’m having a lovely energy surge and am making it to 10/10:30 most nights. You look so fantastic… and wow, May is just around the corner!
Jen says
You look great – you really are glowing! Yes, 8:30pm bedtimes rock sometimes. I woke up nauseated on Wednesday and thought I was getting sick, but nope it’s definintely morning sickness – and getting worse! I don’t remember this with Wyatt either but maybe it’s because we were much sicker this time around in the beginning? Who knows!
Brittany Dixon says
I’m so bummed you’ve felt some nausea too, but glad to hear it’s normal and other people experience it. I keep thinking I’m getting the stomach bug, then I feel better an hour later. Dramatic much? 😉
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries says
Yay! Time is a flyin’ – just crazy! You’re looking great, Mama!
Giselle@myhealthyhappyhome says
You look so good! I love your bedtime advice! I would be in bed at 8:30 every night if I could! I actually am in bed by 9:00 some and I’m not pregnant, just old 😉 Go you with the freezer meals! You’ll be set!
Emily says
wow! third trimester! It really seemed to drag for me until I hit the mid-20s! And I slept so well when I was pregnant – as a light sleeper, that was welcomed!
char eats greens says
Great BP!! I had mine done yesterday and it was really good too! Welcome to the third tri!! The freezer meal looks awesome!!
Maria says
2 workouts a week is not too shabby! You must forget that you are carrying around a little dumbbell in your tummy all day long 🙂
Hailey’s big girl bed is adorable! I hope it went well!
Brittany Dixon says
Haha, YES, thank you for reminding me that almost 20 extra pounds being hauled around is a workout in itself. Perhaps I will go satisfy that french fry craving 😉
Liz @ I Heart Vegetables says
You are SO adorable!!! You look wonderful!
Urban Wife says
You look awesome! Yay for a healthy baby and healthy momma. I can’t believe how quickly time is going by. My due date was May 10 so this is bringing back memories of where I was at this time last year. Enjoy the extra sleep, too! 🙂
p.s. My red wine suggestion…the Trivento Reserve Malbec. It is seriously the best bottle under $15 that tastes comparable to a much more expensive wine!
Brittany Dixon says
Under $15?! SOLD. Thank you for the suggestion! I can’t wait 🙂
Lauren B. says
You look lovely! Love the update, and now I am craving stuffed shells and French fries. 🙂
sarah (SHU) says
YEAH 27 weeks! i want wine, too. and smoked salmon. and deli meat! i have to say the 3rd tri has draaaaaaaaaaaagged for me (and still have 13 days left until due date and who knows how many until actual birth-day!). hopefully will go faster for you!
also def good decision moving hailey NOW so she doesn’t associate being ‘evicted’ w/ the new baby. in our case we aren’t moving annabel (and i’m planning to keep her in the crib until . . .well, until she makes a worthy attempt to escape!) but everything i’ve read suggests as much consistency as possible with ‘the rest of life’ when the baby comes, to ease the transition.
Brittany Dixon says
Oh, don’t tell me it drags… I’m hoping for the next 13 weeks to move at a good pace! Of course, the last month always seems to drag, but think of how close you are to a nice sip of wine… 😉
I’m on baby watch for you! Can’t wait to hear some news!
Beth Jamieson says
Would love to hear more about freezer meals! I’m due may 16 with #2 and I’m thinking of ways to get ready too!
Avery @ Young Aspirations says
Yay 3rd trimester! I took my glucose test this morning and passed, yay! Of course now anything sweet sounds sort of gross. Love Haley’s big girl bed! So fun and yet bittersweet at the same time. Use that nesting energy! Would love to see nursery pictures when you get it finished 🙂 I’m finding that this week I feel like I hit that first trimester low energy wall again – boooo! I hope it doesn’t stay this way!
jenn says
I always started getting sick again in the third tri as well. Best of luck, it’s definitely not any fun when you have other kiddos.
Maria says
Prepping frozen meals now sound like such a great idea! Lets see if I actually execute it 😛
Kim says
The past few months have gone by so fast- 27 weeks?! Woo hoo! I have a question with your premade meals- do you just prep everything before hand, place them in the foil containers, then freeze and take out and bake when needed? I’m wanting to start doing some of these since we bought a freezer for the garage. Probably extremely dumb, but I need direction and meal ideas for this!
Jen says
You look so cute and glowing! Not a pregnancy question, but what are you using for bumpers in Hailey’s bed? Pool noodles?
Jen
Brittany Dixon says
They are called Magic Bumpers (http://www.magicbumpers.com/) and so far they work well! I’m going to do a whole post about her transition and share more details there 🙂
Katie Harding says
You look wonderful, pregnancy really suits you 🙂 I’m currently 12 weeks along with my third and just starting to get back into working out so thanks for the inspiration!
Lauren @ Fun, Fit and Fabulous! says
I love your preganancy updates! I’m 8 weeks behind you, so it’s a great look into what’s coming. I have already started to pin recipes for freezer meals when our baby girl comes. I would love to hear what your favorites are! Good luck in these coming weeks! You’re getting so close! 🙂
Katherine says
I’m just a week and a half behind you (26 weeks on Tuesday!) and am so glad I found your blog. I got off the workout train so bad in January as we traveled and then had visitors in town. Feeling like I’m getting back on it this week! As far as wine goes, I live in Sonoma County in California. My very favorite wine is Papapietro Perry 2008 Pinot Noir. If you like pinots, it is the best and I totally plan on having a bottle on hand for when my baby boy arrives mid-May!
Liz says
Glad you are feeling well. If you aren’t planning so already, that would be great if you had a freezer meals post!
Madeline @ Food Fitness and Family says
I can’t believe you’re in your 3rd trimester! INSANE.
