Somehow an entire month has flown by and I’m now 33 weeks pregnant, which sounds so much further along than 32 in my mind. Holy moly.
What Fruit are you? She’s a pineapple (a PINEAPPLE!) this week, weighing in at over 4 pounds and 17 inches long. Her bones are starting to harden (and momma is keeping up with the calcium to help out) and she’s continuing to put on that adorable baby chub.
Due date: May 9, 2014 – according to my last appointment, I’m measuring right on track.
How far along: 33 weeks
Gender: Baby girl!
Total weight gain/loss: Up 25 pounds (I was up 26 at this point with Hailey, so it’s pretty much evened itself out)
Exercise: I keep a list of all my completed workouts because… I’m neurotic? Figuring you probably don’t have interest in seeing them all, the summary is still a mixture of weights and walking (3 miles max) with some stair stepper thrown in for good measure. I’m averaging 3 real workouts a week, supplemented by deliberate extra walks or lunges around the house. I tend to have a few off days where exercising feels really tedious, followed by a few days of I FEEL AWESOME.
I can a real difference on how much more water and food I need on days when I workout. I’ve gone to the gym, only to realize I’m hungry and grab a snack from the vending machine. I’m sure a few people have giggled at the pregnant lady sitting and eating at the gym.
Stretch marks: Nada. Thanks, mom, for the good genes!
Swelling: Nada.
Belly button: It’s gross. Proof is that when Hailey wants to kiss her little sister, she demands a bare belly and laughs EVERY SINGLE TIME she first sees my belly button. Kindly, she still gives it a kiss, but those giggles cut deep, kid!
Sleep: Amazing. Asleep by 9:30 or 10 and sleeping solidly until my alarm at 6:15. That’s about 8-9 hours a night. Soaking it up.
Food cravings: No cravings. Eating pretty normally, and making time for special dates with my girl.
Symptoms: A definite uptick in braxton hicks contractions. Just another reminder that I’m reaching the home stretch and need to slow down just a bit. Drinking more water probably wouldn’t hurt either.
My current blood pressure is 110/62, which is a bit high for me. Doc says that blood pressure always rises gently in the third tri, so I’m deciding not to dwell on it.
Baby girl’s heartbeat was 136 and she keeps me entertained with wiggles.
Also, I can no longer put on my shoes while standing up. It smooshes the belly too much. Picking things off the floor requires full on squats now, too.
What I miss: Nothing much!
What I’m loving: The fact that overall I’m still feeling really good. I think I keep thinking this will suddenly tank, but I’m hoping it keeps up at least a few more weeks.
What I’m looking forward to: Deciding the name (I think we have it narrowed down to two), getting through some of my to-do list, and the month of April, when I’ve cut down on obligations to give myself a few weeks of time to get things done and relax.
Latest Concern: As of my last appointment, a week ago, baby girl was transverse. The doc said I have a lot of fluid and she still has plenty of room to wiggle around, but my fears over her turning breech or staying sideways are starting to creep in. I’m considering a chiropractor. My friend I walked with yesterday mentioned she went around 34 weeks and it worked miracles.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

you are SO gorgeous!!!! i think i’ve been having braxton hicks contractions as well… i’ve been consciously trying to up my water intake, too!

You look great, and are doing amazing with your workouts! A pineapple is HUGE. I’m a watermelon this week which is just ridiculous!
As of Tuesday, my Dr thinks my baby is transverse too! I’m already annoyed with her because she was heads-down weeks ago. I’m having an ultrasound next week to confirm her position. But what the heck do you do for transverse? I’d go to the chiro for version if she was breech, but I guess I need to research what to do for this situation.
Can’t wait to see your bump in person later! <3

It’s awesome that you’re able to get so much sleep! Lookin’ great, mama!

You look good. No suggestions here but I’m sure baby still has enough time to wiggle and get in the right position mommy wants her to be

You look fantastic! I am so glad you are still feeling good and sleeping well.

I was just reading that a lot of people have successfully changed their babies position by rubbing peppermint oil on their bellies. Mix some of the essential oil with coconut oil. Worth a shot!

You look AWESOME! 🙂 And how great that you are still strong on the workouts (I keep track of all my completed workouts too…..glad I’m not the only one!) Oh gosh, May will be here before you know it! Hope that baby flips around — http://www.spinningbabies.com talks about different swaying motions and “exercises” you can do to help the baby move into the correct position. I didn’t use it, but I’ve heard other people try it out. 🙂

Girlfriend, you are smokin’ in that first photo! Can’t believe you’re only a few weeks away!! Very exciting. 🙂 I’ve heard lots of positive stories about using a chiropractor, so it probably wouldn’t hurt to look into it if it’s something that is making you anxious.

OMG…you are too cute!! You look great and Hailey looks adorable in the picture with Froyo!!
Thinking a Froyo date for Keely and I today is a must with a temperature of 61 in Chicago…lol

Ykikes, but plenty of time for baby to move! I would consider a chiropractor certified for the Webster method. They align you structurally but don’t maneuver baby. We also went for a consult at hospital for a version. Would have definitely tried it if we could have. And there are plenty of wives tales options too- yes, I put frozen peas on his head to encourage him to flip over! Good luck!

I actually remember kissing my mom’s belly when she was pregnant with my little sister! Not sure if I giggled at her belly button…but if so I’m sure my karma will come back around to bite me when I’m preggers 🙂

I have a heart rate monitor app on my phone that I love! It helps me decide if I’m overworked and need to slow down, or if I’m just being lazy and should get moving!

You can’t go wrong with a visit to the chiropractor – I went during both my pregnancies. I also recommend Spinning Babies if you’re worried about her turning. There are a lot of things you can do, and you definitely have time. My little girl was breech at around 34 weeks, and she ended up turning around – like you, I had a lot of fluid.

You are such a cute pregnant lady! Love the outfit in the top picture.

It didn’t work for me, but my OB said to get on all fours with my butt in the air to try to get the baby to turn. He was breech though, not transverse.

You are looking FABULOUS at 33 weeks! So glad to hear these final weeks of your pregnancy are such happy ones. And no, I don’t think you are neurotic for keeping a list of your workouts…I do! (and I’m not even pregnant!). Sorry, no tips on the the baby being transverse!

i love you for knowing the difference between further and farther. aaaand for wearing heels this far along. go you!

You look amazing! I have been following your blog for a long time-and I always enjoy it, especially the pregnancy updates. I am a few weeks behind you, (31-first baby) and appreciate the tips and stories. The way you’re keeping up with your daughter, family and exercise while pregnant is impressive-way to go!!

Chiropractic and acupuncture can work wonders for flipping babies, but wait a few more weeks (but not too long). I’m an acupuncturist and it’s ideal if you would go about 35-36 weeks to start. The baby still has plenty of room and time at this point!

You look great!
My second baby was heading in slightly the wrong direction and didn’t drop until the very last minute (and by last minute, I mean 42 weeks!). For the last few weeks of my pregnancy, I spent time basically upside down to get her in position and crawling around on all fours. I wish I could remember the name of the website I went to for the info! Just google turning a breech baby and you should find it. I credit the change in her position to that. She still came out turned a little, but not quite sunny side up. Good luck!

You look fabulous! And I have never even heard of transverse?!?! How could I have skipped that term in my 50 million baby books? I am already scheduled for a c-section in August when my little one is due so I guess I’ve kind of skimmed over the “natural birth” sections!
Would love for you to link up to my #tbellyt (That Belly Thursday) some time before little girl comes! I just thought it would be fun to condense all these “expecting” blogs. If you have time you can check out my link below, a few people have linked up!

I had a breech birth with my first (so, a c-section) and at 34 weeks, my second was also breech. I used the techniques on the spinning babies website to successfully flip her and get her to stay head down. Here’s the page on tranvsverse babies: http://spinningbabies.com/baby-positions/all-positions/sideways
The site is a little hard to follow, as it’s not organized very well. I did the “daily exercises” along with some of the recommended moves for breech babies and it worked for me 🙂
I’m so impressed with your comittment to exercise during pregnancy. I was always too exhausted and sick in the first trimester and then never got back into the habit until after having the baby. Trying to make it a habit again now that I’m 2 months postpartum.

I love that picture of you! Absolutely gorgeous.

I highly recommend seeing a chiropractor who specializes in the websters technique. It has about a 70% chance of helping baby turn. Also will help your body overall.
Try not to worry too much. Your baby still has tons of time to move head down. Only 4% of babies are in a ‘malposition’ at term (37 weeks). As this is your 2nd baby your little one has lots of room in there. My first baby was transverse till around 35 weeks. I used a chiropractor and some of the spinning babies techniques.
My 2nd baby on the other hand (I’m 39weeks) however is currently breech and seemingly very comfy despite me doing all the tricks in the book.
Stay positive and I bet your baby will head down soon enough!

My little bundle of joy was born three weeks ago (can’t believe it!!) and he was breech at 32 weeks. I, like some of the other ladies mentioned, used spinning babies.com as a resource. I also had an acupuncture procedure done around 35 weeks. The little guy was head down at 36 weeks and we had a smooth delivery at 38!! Hope you have luck turning the little love, I know I was so stressed out while he was breech. You’re in the final stretch, looking great! Hope you continue to feel strong and healthy.

33 does sound so far along… crazy! You look awesome- I love the boots. And I’ve been the pregnant lady eating at the gym, too. I usually fuel well enough, but I’ve had a few times where even with my big breakfast I realized I needed a snack mid workout to continue!
