It was a Tuesday. I believe it was raining in Atlanta, GA. “Maniac” by Michael Sembello was #1 on the billboard chart. The average cost of a new house was $82,600. Swatch was in the process of releasing their first watches.
…and I was born 🙂
Today I turn 27 years old, and for some reason it sounds a lot older to me than 26. Maybe it’s because now I’m in my “late 20’s” versus “mid-20’s?” Or because I would rather scarf down healthy food than a double serving of cake like I used to?
Either way, I think 27 sounds older. But the good news? I certainly don’t FEEL older. I feel GREAT!
And I wanted to take a minute to reflect on the gifts I have on this birthday.
And I don’t mean piles of presents like I used to have…
…although I did get a few wonderful material goodies.
I mean in the deeper sense, of looking back over the past 27 years and counting my blessings.
Today I look at my life and wonder… how did I end up here? I actually woke and pondered how I am so lucky to be in this wonderful place in life.
I’m married to an incredible, loving, intelligent, funny & gorgeous guy, who (as cliche as it sounds) is my best friend!
I am blessed to have an amazing family that has seen me through all the birthdays I’ve ever had. They are supportive, caring and I love them deeply.
I am lucky to have Hubb’s family as my own now, too. I feel so lucky to get to brag about my in-laws because they are all so wonderful!
And I can’t forget my awesome friends… they make me laugh, have been there for me through ups & downs, are there for me to talk to when I need them & I love going through life together with them.
I have the world’s sweetest puppy dog, who puts on her party hat to help me celebrate my birthday.
I’m in a career I love, living in a place I love.
The people I love are healthy, as am I.
Someone pinch me.
…actually…. please don’t. I like this dream 😉
Thanks for listening to me ramble on my special day. I also feel so lucky to have incredible blends (blog-friends) like you!
What blessings are you thankful for?

I turned 27 next month and I too feel that it sounds older than 26…sigh. At least I still feel 21, so, no worries, right?
I am thankful for where I am at too – I have successful career, I’m getting married, and I’ve discovered a healthy lifestyle. More importantly, I have family and friends who love me more than anything and who I can always count on it. I love these life is good post 🙂

I was born in ’82…wait until you meet 28…28 sounds waaaay older than 27, trust me! 😉
I’m thankful for many blessings in my life. Mostly, I’m thankful that I got up one day and changed what I was doing to my body. That I learned about health, nutrition and exercise and that I realized I didn’t have to be the fat miserable wall flower that I had let myself become. I feel blessed because I feel like myself for the first time in my life, and it is awesome!

You are such a creative writer! Love to “listen” to what you have to say. And it was pouring down rain on Sept. 20, 1983! And then you were born and the sunshine came out!
