Well, I guess it should be called What I ate on Tuesday, but that’s ok. I told you that I pretty much eat constantly throughout the day now, and now you’ll see it for yourself! Warning… this is going to be a long food post 😉

Then… I made a mistake. Now that we don’t have Bravo anymore, I figured I’d watch the Food Network instead. BIG mistake for a preggo. Look what was on…
Suddenly I had to have a cupcake. Like NOW. Hubbs was at a business dinner and I was in pjs. What is a girl to do? I started blowing up Hubbs’ phone with texts about cupcakes. And my fabulous husband arrived home a short time later baring gifts…
CUPCAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That, my friends, is love.
Bedtime Snack: (guesstimate because I could not eat all that icing) 246 calories, 47 carbs, 6 fat, 2 protein

My thoughts? Pretty healthy balance to me! BUT I have no clue… am I eating enough? Should I be eating more? Being pregnant, I’m not sure! But I’m doing my best just to listen to my body and feed it when it tells me to 🙂
Have you ever seen Cupcake Wars?
Autumn @ Good Eats Girl says
Just listen to your body! You are making great food choices! Your body will tell you exactly what it needs and when it needs it! And what a sweet hubby for bringing home that cupcake!
Melissa says
I’ve heard you need 600 calories more than you normally take in when pregnant. And yes I always watch Cupcake Wars. I crave a cupcake any time I see it!
Kristin says
I guess it’s good for me that I’m more excited about the new Arnold’s Thins than that cupcake… The Food Network is definitely evil, though!
Kimberly @ Healthy Strides says
I have an arbitrary goal of 2,500 calories a day, which I based off my pre-pregnancy weight, activity level and the 500 extra calories you should eat in the second trimester with some random Googling thrown in. I think as long as you get in your fruits and veggies and feel good about what you’re eating then you are good!
Caree @ Fit-Mama says
definitely just listen to your body!! and concentrate on getting the right nutrients because its all going to baby and then you get the leftovers. But it looks like to me you are doing great!!!
Brooke @ Veggie Table says
All of your meals yesterday look so YUM! And what a saaaahhhhweeetttt Hubbs – where did he get that cupcake? I need one immediately! 🙂
Sarah for Real says
Wow looks like you are doing a really great job getting healthy foods! Doesn’t it get exhausting preparing all that food though? Some days I just get tired of feeding myself and I’m not even pregnant. I’d like a personal chef please.
Suzanne says
OMG what a wonderful husband! Mine probably would have told me to get some fruit or that he didn’t get my messages (not really but still). I just listen to my body and eat when I am hungry and don’t eat when I’m not. I also find that my cravings tend to align with what I need (minus the rabid desire I’ve recently had for pie). There have been many nights when I get home from work and just slice up a bunch of veggies and have a couple pieces of cheese and that is exactly what I needed/wanted. Then there are days where if I don’t have a burger RIGHTNOW I might die. Also, I didn’t gain any weight between 13 and 16 weeks, but I am pretty sure I have gained about 4 pounds in the last 2 weeks. HAHA! Your food looks amazing and I am jealous that you can cook eggs. I still can’t be around them when they are cooking 🙁
Brittney says
Haha, that’s awesome that he brought you a cupcake! Funny story- while in VA this weekend I think I SAW two Cupcake Wars contestants. My friend and I found a dog loose in her neighborhood, and the owner came to get him in a Cupcake Wars chef jacket! Everything happened too fast for us to properly amush her and beg for cupcakes, but I’ll have to watch the next season and see if I can pick her out! I don’t get Bravo either… it’s been tough, but I’ve learned to live without it.
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says
Girl…your preggo cravings are doing a number on ME—and I am FAR from pregnant.
Now I want a cupcake, too.
And a hubby to go get one for me 🙂
Kelly says
What a sweet husband! I never get it when people say “I can’t eat all that icing”. I could eat a cupcake size wad of icing. 😉 I’m no expert but your eating looks pretty heathy to me! 🙂
Maria @ Oh Healthy Day says
Not only did he bring you a cupcake, he brought you a BEAUTIFUL cupcake! So sweet!
I think you just eat when you are hungry. Your body will be sure to tell you when it needs something. You didn’t have many sweets throughout the day, so it needed a cupcake 🙂
Jess @atasteofconfidence says
Everything looks great! I love cupcake wars. They are so original!
Samantha @ Health, Happiness & Skinny Jeans says
You have got a great balance of healthy foods in the mix so in that respect you are doing great!! I would think you might need a few hundred more calories but I am not a doctor and don’t know that for sure. Do you take a calcium supplement? If not some extra calories from dairy might be beneficial.
Graze With Me says
How funny, I just did a what I ate post too. 🙂 I’m not keeping track nearly as well as you are calorie and stat-wise but I’ve always been a follower of the Intuitive Eating lifestyle. I’m going with eat when you’re hungry and stop when you’re full. 🙂 Looks like a great day of eats!
Tina says
As long as you’re eating when hungry and satisfying cravings in a balanced way, you’re doing your body good. All looks great to me! And I now officially have a cupcake craving. Bad!
Alexa @ The Girl In Chucks says
I love cupcake wars…and that one looks great!
I think you’re doing well nutrition wise. Mostly healthy…and I think about 2,000 calories certainly isn’t overdoing it. Pretty much, if you make the best choices you can and you listen to your body, you won’t go wrong. We were made for this!
Melissa @ Be Not Simply Good says
Yes, you can expect to need more than usual, and it looks like you are eating lots of good things. I think I am going to need an orange in a bit, here. Mmm. 🙂
Jenn L @ Peas and Crayons says
Your MD can give you a personalized calorie count but usually an extra 300 calories on top of what you’re supposed to be eating for your body size/hight/type/all that jazz is suggested? <3
Everything looks soooo good and hooray for a happy (cupcake) ending! =)
thehealthyapron says
Looks like you are doing a great job of eating small, frequent, healthy meals! Just keep listening to your body and as long as you are gaining (whihc I think you said you gained 8 lbs), then know you are doing exactly what you should be doing!!
Karlee @olivewineandfood says
what a nice husband! now i want a cupcake.
