Good Monday morning! Can you believe August is halfway over? We are definitely inching closer to chili, pumpkin muffins and leaves changing colors… oh, and closer to meeting Baby D, too, of course. So much to be excited about!
I’m trying to make the most of my weekends before they are consumed by Baby D for a little while, so here’s a peak at what a typical weekend for me looks like now…
I do my best to still fit in a nice waddle around the neighborhood, despite the fact I have a constant BH contraction that lasts the entire time.
I was totally wild this weekend and decided to do grocery shopping on SATURDAY. I made my list and since Harris Teeter was doing double coupons, I tried my hand at couponing. I looked up websites for products I knew I needed to see if they offered any coupons. Some did. The final result was that I spent over an hour looking for coupons, that ended up saving me $7.
Eh.
That’s why I’m not a couponer.
I did have fun hitting up the local farmers market though. A large canvas bag full of fresh, local produce for $15? Yes, please. It saved me more $$$ than the coupons did.
At the grocery store I was searching for pickled jalapenos, when a lady stopped and giggled at me. She said I was picture perfect. What she meant was I was obviously very pregnant and standing in front of the pickles. She thought it was great!
Saturday night we decided to be wild and get out of the house, so into Charlotte we went, despite the rain!
We met a friend at Whiskey Warehouse to watch the Panthers play. I decided before the game that I’m going to be a big Panthers fan this year!… and what do you know? We beat the Giants! I can’t believe I’m cheering for sCam Newton, but hopefully he’ll make this season exciting. Maybe it will even be fun to care about NFL this year… not that it will ever be able to compare to college football. GO DAWGS!
Even though I had to pass on the beer, I really enjoyed indulging in the bar food…
Sunday morning I woke up aching. My hips burned and my legs felt so sore. I’m definitely nearing the end of pregnancy. I didn’t sleep well and was tired. Sweet Hubbs made breakfast while I bummed on the couch and watched the news.
Pawlenty is out of the race. Can’t say I’m bummed about it.
Sunday included some playing around in the kitchen, my favorite!
and more than one nap (isn’t that what Sundays are for?!)
For dinner, we feasted on homemade gyros! I made them using this gyro meat recipe and this tzatziki recipe. They. Were. Awesome.
Hubbs enthusiastically said to add these to the ‘make again’ list.
Sunday came to a relaxing close with a movie (Source Code… it was ok-ish) and we finished painting the letters to hang on Baby D’s nursery wall, spelling out her/his name 🙂
And now it’s Monday of a busy week- yay! Let the days fly by- I’m ready to be a mommy!
Speaking off, I think Baby D is trying to escape, too. I know it’s fuzzy, but check out these big ‘ol belly wiggles!
What are you looking forward to most about fall?
For me it’s meeting my baby, obviously. 🙂 But also college football, pumpkin beer, cooler weather and jeans and boots! 🙂

Watching the video, reminds me how uncomfortable that feeling was when they get at this stage (how big they are now) and how sore it can be when they move like this. But, it is still a moment to remember forever. Great that you are able to capture the moment.
Bar food sure is good, with or without beer. Yum.
Lindsay @ The Lean Green Bean says
love the wiggles 🙂
Sarah @ The Smart Kitchen says
What a lovely weekend! [And the shot of you in the pickle aisle IS pretty classic…although I relate more to the foodie mess in the kitchen surrounding the very fancy camera. ;)]
Tiff @ Love, Sweat, and Beers says
haha – I love the pickles thing. Too funny! I am really excited for pretty trees, more walks with the Mr, in-season squash, and college football. I decided I’m going to be a Panther’s fan this year too, so Cam better pull through for me!
Brittany says
Goooo Panthers!!! I even have a jersey to wear… given Hubbs bought it for $5 because it’s a kids size Jake Delhomme jersey, but still, it obviously means I’m a super fan 😉
Jen says
Omg, so cute! You continue to look so amazing, Brittany! And I’m tired from reading how much you did this weekend. You have super enegry for a pregnant woman 🙂 I’m also not a couponer for that exact reason!
Donna@Life of a Happy Blonde says
Yay wiggles and love the lady pointing out your preggie cliche 🙂
I also love the fact your hubby is painting without his shirt on, way to save on laundry hahaha
I want that gyro, yummmm 😀
Brittany says
Hubbs does everything with his shirt off- I tell him it’s going on the blog, but he doesn’t seem to care. Comfort is key I guess 🙂
Jen says
oh so many things to comment on…
first – the wiggles – oh my gosh! that is crazy, brittany. baby d is ready to get out of there!
second – i am totally with you on the cam newton thing. as a dawg fan, it’s hard to switch gears and start cheering for him now. i am so ready for UGA football!
third – i get frustrated with coupons too. it takes too long to go through them all and then i feel like i end up buying things i don’t need just because i have a coupon. my husband on the other hand, is a coupon pro. yesterday he got a double pack of crest toothpaste, band aids, a candy bar and two sticks of deodorant for $4 at CVS. seriously.
Jennie @ Designed to be Fit says
Not having to wake up at 4am to run outside! I live in central Florida and it’s 90 degrees by 8:30am!
Roz@weightingfor50 says
Awww….love the wiggles. And what a great “end of pregnancy” weekend you had!! The belly/pickle picutre is the BEST!!! Have a good Monday Brittany – hang in there, you’re almost there!!
Jessie says
We watched Source Code last night too! It was good enough to hold my attention but I don’t care if I ever watch it again.
I am so excited about the homemade gyro….these are making it onto my meal plan very soon!
Brittany says
We watched The Lincoln Lawyer the other day and liked it a lot, so I think that’s partially why I wasn’t all that into Source Code. But you’re right, it was entertaining enough.
Jessie says
I want to see Lincoln Lawyer. We may have to see if Redbox has that this weekend!
Katie @ Legally Fit says
Love the video! Isn’t it so neat? I woke up this morning and there was definitely an appendage just sticking out in a little bump in my stomach. So cute and weird too, haha.
Boo to beating the giants- that’s my team! I am looking forward to meeting Audrey (captain obvious here haha), cooler temps, WINE, pumpkin spice beer with a brown sugar rimmed glass, and our next big move (I will officially be a true southerner and kind of in your neck of the woods- though moving with a one month old should be interesting :p).
Brittany says
On behalf of the south, may I please tell you that we are excited to have you!! 🙂
Kristen @ The Concrete Runner says
Haha! LOVE the video! I can’t wait til I’m just a little bit bigger, because I can feel her doing that, but it’s not as apparent yet on the outside! My husband actually looked up a few videos of that last night, so I will have to show him yours!
Karen says
Love the video! I am looking forward to fall weather, pumpkin muffins & cookies, halloween, my growing belly (due 1/1/2012), and fall clothes.
Brittany says
A new year’s baby?! How exciting! I hope you are having a good pregnancy 🙂
Cait @ Beyond Bananas says
Funny how you talk about couponing! Justin has been on a kick of getting a binder and becoming a couponer. I tell him he is wasting his time. He started to believe me until yesterday.. a rainy day.. with an Extreme Couponer marathon was on. Annnnd we are back at square one…
Brittany says
I watched a little bit of that marathon yesterday… crazy people!
marci says
wow look at those wiggles! makes me wonder how it’s supposed to get out of there!
Brittany says
I’m wondering the same thing, Marci! Ahhh!
Maria says
Eeep! The wiggling belly is so exciting and kind of sort of made me jump!
I’m looking forward to pumpkin spice lattes, corn maizes, changing colors and my wedding of course!
Kristin says
Those homemade gyros look AMAZING!
Sniff – I miss those tummy rolls!
Morgan @ Some Kind of Sunshine says
That video is amazing to watch. I can’t imagine what it is like to experience that!! Really awesome.
Looks like you had a really fun weekend. I am so excited for Georgia football! It’s my first day back on campus today! Now, if we could only get some cooler weather….
Brittany says
Back on campus… I can’t tell you how nostalgic I feel when I hear things like this. And hopefully cooler weather is on the way!
Alyssa @ Life of bLyss says
OH MY GOODNESS, that video is so funny!
P.S. I’m totally guessing baby D is a boy. 😀 I can’t wait to find out and claim my victory prize.
Lauren says
Ah, that video is so crazy!! As sad as I am to see Summer go, I must admit, I do love Fall 🙂 The cooler temperatures and sweaters are what get me. Not to mention that whole drowning myself in pumpkin thing.
Katie@Pop Culture Cuisine says
I loved your comment about couponing, I totally agree. I end up spending so much time trying to figure it out, only to never really save that much and make it worthwhile. I also find that those who save the most are buying “crappy” processed stuff out the wazoo that I don’t really want anyway. Ahh well, I think I still do a pretty good job of sale and buying only what we need
Karlee @olivewineandfood says
oh my gosh i’ve never seen a baby move like that before! and i love that the lady said that to you in the pickle aisle, haha.
Cindi says
Watching your wiggles video made me realize how much I miss that feeling! I could never get enough of it!
I also an not a big couponer. They never have coupons for anything I really want. Except for diapers. I use those a lot now. 🙂
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says
WOW! That was a lot of movement! I can’t wait to see a picture of baby D!
Molly @ Duchess of Fork says
No question…college football! I can’t wait to dress Julia up in her cute Gator gear. Hubby has some Bama clothes for her, but not sure I’ll let her wear those. 😉
Colby says
I was at Josh’s market too this weekend! I’m really wondering how many times we have probably passed right by each other… I ended up getting a few of the black russian tomatoes that were delish! I sliced them up and put them on homemade pizza with ricotta and fresh basil- really yummy! I’m actually getting ready to write you back now- looks like you had a great weekend!
Susan @ Real Life Travels says
I miss feeling the wiggles 🙂 Baby D is runnin out of room!
Kiah says
Ahh good ol’ Harris Teeter. I grew up in NC, so it holds a soft spot in my heart 🙂
P.S. just came across your blog–it’s great! Can’t wait to read more!
Brittany says
Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read and comment 🙂 Off to check out your blog!
Lisa @ I'm an Okie says
