Happy 6 month birthday to my little angel!
Today Hailey is 6 months old and yesterday we celebrated with her first trip to the pool.
She kicked and played and had a wonderful time!
Unfortunately it might have been the activity that did me in. After not sleeping on our drive down, I woke up yesterday feeling a little off. I decided I was just tired and ignored it. After all, a delicious breakfast was awaiting!
I even thought a little gym action might help, so I did workout B for Best Body Bootcamp with a fantastic view.
But as the day went on, I kept going downhill. I was so hungry and I think my body was trying to tell me to eat up and let it heal itself.
But it didn’t matter. By the evening I had chills and a fever of 100.4.
I know, I’m so cute when I’m sick.
In hopes of kicking this thing, I crawled in to bed and was asleep by 8:00. I slept until 7:00 this morning and woke up feeling better!…
for a little bit. As soon as I got up and started moving around, the chills came back. My body feels worn down and my temperature is 100.7.
Why does this have to happen on vacation? I’m so sad.
Any tips?

Bummer! Feel better so you can enjoy this gorgeous weather.
Tanya @ Vegan Faith says
You poor thing! I am so sad for you! Happy half birthday to Hailey and I hope you feel better soon!
Heather says
oh no I am so sorry! rest rest rest! Can you sit out on the balcony and at least enjoy the view while you rest? Read a good book or magazine? Take this time to relax! What vaca is for anyway, right?
Brittany says
Love the positive attitude, and you’re so right. At least while I’m sick, I have a beautiful view and extra hands to help with Hailey. It’s nice to be able to actually rest without listening for a baby’s cry 🙂
Kelly says
Oh No Brittany! I’m bummed for you 🙁 You may have just worn yourself down and just need to sleep and drink lots of fluids and hot tea and just pee it out of you. I do hope you get better, being sick on vaca is no treat!
Kristen @ notsodomesticated says
🙁 I’m so sorry. Drink lots and lots of fluids. And I agree with Heather … maybe just enjoy a magazine outside, to at least enjoy the warm weather!
blackhuff says
Oh no! That really sucks big time 🙁
Lots of water, lots of Vit C and lots of iron will help too.
Rest as well. Good luck and I hope you get better soon.
Kathy says
So sorry you are not feeling well. I can’t offer any better advice than what has already been given. Hope you feel like a million bucks by tomorrow!
Dana says
Vitamin D and some fresh air might be good so I’ll second the sit outside suggestion.
Feel better!
Michaela says
I hope you will feel better asap!!
It has happened to me before… mainly bc I had so much on my plate beforehand and never realized how much I needed a time out. The moment I was in holiday relaxation mode, my body thought “wohoo, now is the time to re-charge those batteries” by making me sick. I just HAD to lay down and listen to my body.
Brittany says
I think you’re right. My body finally had to yell at me to STOP and relax. So now I’m finally listening 🙂
Susan @ Real Life Travels says
Aw that sucks! I hope you feel better soon at least you have some helping hands and can relax!
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says
I would take high doses of Vitamin C & D. My mom did that when we were in Hawaii in December and it totally helped her. Also, lots of tea! Being sick on vacation sucks. 🙁 I’m sorry you’re feeling so down!
H is so cute in her bathing suit though!
Lindsey @ The Powells Perspective says
That stinks! Lots of sleep, water, tea (decaf!) and Vitamin C! Every time I see Hailey turn a month older it reminds me Carters about to be a month older too. *tear* Happy 1/2 Birthday!
Marissa says
Oh no! I have been sick since last week! Hoping you feel better ASAP!
Brittany says
poor thing- since last week?! 🙁 Hope you’re feeling better soon!
Amanda @ Sistas of Strength says
Sick on vacation – no fun. 🙁 Feel better mama!
Maria says
Happy 6 month birthday, H!
So sorry you aren’t feeling well on vacation – great timing, Nature! Lots of liquids, some Tylenol, and soup always do the trick for me. Hope you feel better, soon!
Karen says
This may seem weird but it is related (I promise!)…how do your boobs feel? 😉 If they feel hot and are red (one or both can be affected) you may have mastitis which is pretty common for nursing moms, especially when they are on the go! The fever and chills comes on really suddenly. When I had it I took Tylenol to bring down the fever and then I had to get an antibiotic prescribed. The good thing is that once you start taking the meds it passes pretty quickly and frequent nursing helps a lot. Hope you feel better soon!
Brittany says
Not a weird question at all! I was thinking the same thing. H has been sleeping a lot and my boobs had gotten really full a few times, so I thought for sure it was mastitis, especially because the fever came on so quickly. Itook tylenol and my fever finally broke, so I’m hoping whatever it is in on it’s way out. FIngers crossed!
Jane Marie says
You poor dear! I hope you feel better soon!
Pam says
I’m so sorry your are sick whirl in beautiful Destin, Fl. My daughter lives there and I’m only 90 miles away (if you need a grandmother to rock H)! 🙂
The weather is perfect so hurry and get well!
Trainer Kjirsten says
No tips, but get lots of rest and drink lots of water. I hope you start feeling better quickly. Being sick is never fun, especially when your on vacation.
Katie says
Emergenc-e always gives you some extra vitamins. Also if it is mastitis I know nursing frequently helps a lot so just a tip. Hope you feel better soon.
chelsey @ clean eating chelsey says
I always get sick on school breaks – it’s like we “go go go” all the time and the second our body has time to relax, we get sick. I hope you feel better soon!
Jen says
Ugh you poor thing. I had a horrible cold on our babymoon and was miserable the whole time. It’s so not cool to be sick on vacation. I hope you’re feeling better!
And 6 mos already?! Where does the time go?
