I’m posting late today because I spent the morning with the wonderful (seriously, they are all SO nice) people of FOX News Rising again. You can check out my segment here.
I think I said LOVE a few too many times and might have been a little excessive in my references to Hailey, but luckily I’ll have time to improve because I’m going to be a regular! I’m thrilled to be joining the crew every other Thursday to discuss quick and healthy eats for kids.
Moving on…
Hailey has been in a dipping phase lately, and here are two dips she’s been loving.
It’s easy to throw together, so don’t let the food processor deter you.
- 2 cups Great Northern beans (I used 2 cups from my food prep)
- juice from 1 lemon
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/4-1/3 cup olive oil (use more if needed for a smoother consistency)
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- salt and pepper to taste
- carrot sticks (for dipping)
Throw it all in and blend until smooth (1-2 minutes).
Hailey couldn’t wait to try it out.
She approved, though I should disclose that she ate only one carrot stick before using them simply as bean dip delivery mechanisms… ok, as spoons.
To switch gears from savory to sweet, we’ve also been loving this ridiculously easy dip-
- 1 container Chobani Banana yogurt
- 2 Tbsp smooth peanut butter
- cinnamon (for sprinkling)
- graham crackers for dipping
Combine in a bowl and whisk until smooth.
Serve with graham crackers…
or eat straight from a spoon.
I love that this snack packs a punch of protein (from the Greek yogurt and peanut butter) and healthy fats. It’s perfect for my finicky eater who will sometimes only eat a few bites of a meal.
It also works great as a spread.
However you eat it, it’s delish!
What are your favorite kid-friendly dips?
Parita @ myinnershakti says
Congrats on the segment! That’s so exciting!
And forget toddler approved, these dips look like they’d be adult approved as well! Delicious!
Mike @ Midwestern Bite says
Our kiddo loves dipping snacks as well. Sometimes for a quick on-the-go we’ll give him Yogurt Dippers. Ever tried?
They completely freak me out for two reasons.
1) For some reason they smell plasticky to me.
2) As a new parent, we all know you deal with some not-pleasant things sometimes. I’m not squeamish. Yet the only time I’ve physically gagged was watching him eat these. So mushy. So slobbery…… Ugh. Mom is in charge of the few times he gets those now.
Congrats on your segment. You did great!

David can change diapers like a champ, but he gets weird too when Hailey is covered in yogurt. Maybe it’s a man thing? 😉
But no, I’ve never heard of yogurt dippers, but if they smell like plastic, they don’t entice me much!

What a great segment! And I love your dip ideas – can’t wait to try them with my little girl. Also, I have to ask….where is your top from? 🙂

Brittany says
Oh that’s such a compliment to me!! I got it from Banana Republic. Yesterday. Because I have no ‘real’ clothes, haha 🙂

First of all, you are such a big shot all star! I will form your blog-terage or bloggerazzi.
Secondly, they may be “for kids” but they sound pretty delicious to me. And Hailey isn’t the only one known to use carrots as spoons. [Tell her that cucumbers work really well, too.]

That’s so awesome that you have the opportunity to do a segment like that! How fun!
We just did a yogurt dip yesterday that my son loves! I use plain greek yogurt then add peanut butter, cinnamon and a little maple syrup. Unfortunately my medicine clouded head forgot to get him a spoon. Of course he got over using the apples to try to scoop out his dip so by he ended up with it EVERYWHERE! That’s what I get for trying to unload the dishwasher while he eats 🙂 Ha!
Maria says
Ahh! I’m so excited for you and your new gig! Please make sure to share all the segments with us. You’re a natural 🙂
My mind is now going crazy with ideas for Chobani dips. Hmm, I wonder what you could do with the blood orange flavor?

I bet Riley would love these dips- I am definitely going to try them out! She does the same thing with carrot sticks, usually only eating one before just using it as a spoon.
Loved seeing you on the news (you looked great)- so cool! What a great opportunity- congrats! Also love that you used the banana sushi idea!!! =)
